The Margie Barba Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship has been established to commemorate Margell (Margie) Barba, who was a driving force in the chapter , then called the DC Association of Contingency Planners. Margie was particularly interested in advancing the future of business resilience, and encouraged students to participate in our chapter. It is fitting that a scholarship for students be given in her honor.

ESSAY QUESTION

An element that contributes to success in the field of emergency management is gaining and sustaining buy-in of key stakeholders. In 140 characters or less, write an original slogan, jingle, catch phase, or statement that emphasizes the importance of business continuity and emergency management.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet all eligibility requirements and submit all applications materials by the due date will be evaluated based on the relevance of their volunteer or internship program to the field of business continuity or emergency management, and the creativity in the essay response. Recipient selection will be announced in October 2016. In the absence of unavoidable circumstances, the recipient of the scholarship should attend the next ACP DC Meeting when the scholarship will be presented.
